notMyShell / NMShv0.20.0

A richer way to use the terminal.

Edit commands without losing your place. Search past output, queue the next step and return to live sessions.

NMSh brings a persistent composer, an interactive transcript and local context to the terminal you already use. Your real shell stays underneath.

A persistent composer. Your real shell underneath.

Your shell stays yours.

Aliases, environment and working directory carry on in a persistent shell session.

More than a new look.

Edit multiline commands, inspect output blocks and resume work in a live session.

Local. Under your control.

No account or telemetry. Review configuration changes before NMSh applies them.

01 / The composer

Room for the command
you’re working on.

A persistent editor gives your input its own space. Keep it at the bottom, move it to the top, or place it after the newest output in Flow.

  1. Write more than one line.

Native multiline editing, with Shift+Enter and a Ctrl+J fallback.

  2. See what the shell knows.

Semantic command highlighting and completion without executing unfinished input.

02 / The transcript

The command ended.
Its output still matters.

Return to command blocks, fold long output, search for a result and copy plain text. Live sessions let a shell keep working after its window closes.

NMSh adds structure around program output. It does not rewrite or recolor what a program prints.

Useful context.
Optional character.

Route native modules where they make sense. Choose your palette and prompt provider. Keep Vespyr and motion, or choose a quieter view. The frontend adapts; the shell stays the shell.

Context with boundaries

Project, runtime, Git and system facts come from bounded local capabilities. Opening a repository is not permission to execute its code.
